Interestingly, farmers have already sown crops in the 70 per cent of the cultivable land in the taluk and are now readying the 30 per cent of the land for rabi crop.

Farmers who have sown ragi, avare (broad beans) and togari (tur) last month, are now engaged in deweeding the remaining land.

Crops like Jowar, sunflower, ragi (short-duration variety), coarse cereals like Sajje, Saame and Navane will be sown during rabi season.

Some of the farmers have also decided to grown groundnut, tomato and other crops utilising the rain.

Farmers are making all efforts for maximum utilisation of rain to improve their agriculture produce and thereby income.
