JD(S) floor leader in the Legislative Assembly H D Kumaraswamy on Friday charged that the state government has lost control over the administration and, governance is in doldrums.

Participating in a discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address, Kumaraswamy pointed out that the then Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa had admonished the Siddaramaiah government several times for failing to respond to the needs of the people. “However, Thimmappa, after becoming minister has pleaded helplessness on getting things done in the present system,” Kumaraswamy said.

He said Health Minister K R Ramesh Kumar who spoke about ethics all the time had mellowed down after being inducted into the Cabinet. “If this is the plight of ministers, just imagine the predicament of the common man,”  he said.

The JD(S) leader said a doctor deputed to a government hospital in his Assembly constituency (Ramanagaram) has been bragging that nobody can touch him as he had paid Rs 5 lakh for the appointment. Even an official complaint to Ramesh Kumar had resulted only in the minister directing the principal secretary of the Health department to seek a report, he said.
