This is not the first time that Mohammed Nalapad was involved in assaults in the city.

However, no FIR was registered in any of the incidents.

On June 12, 2017, Mohammed attacked a person by name Peter, a resident of JB Nagar, over putting up a banner during Rahul Gandhi's visit to Bengaluru. Peter was admitted to Chinmaya Mission Hospital in Indiranagar. Though a complaint was filed, JB Nagar police did not register an FIR. Police claimed that a scuffle had broken out between two groups of Congress activists over putting up banners.

On April 7, 2016, Mohammed and his three friends attacked Swapna Kumar Das, a security guard at the Bowring Club. The guard had asked Mohammed to take his car away from the parking lot meant only for members.

Mohammed's brother Umer was also involved in a skirmish at a pub on August 10, 2016. Umer had attacked one, Ashok Kumar, in Plan-B Pub in Richmond Town.

When asked about the incident, MLA Haris said his son was never involved in any such incidents before.

The MLA, however, said, "Whoever does indulges in such attacks is wrong, He is not above the law of the land. Such an incident should not have happened. I request all not to politicise the issue. I will not interfere in the investigation."

Narrating the Saturday night incident at Ferzi Cafe at UB City, Vidwath's brother Sathwik told DH that Mohammed and his associates attacked him at Mallya Hospital.

"His (Vidwath's) friends called up and told me about the incident. He (Vidwath) was already in the emergency ward when I reached the hospital. Mohammed and his friends barged into the emergency ward. They hit me and held me by collar. They warned me and my brother not to file a complaint. They left the place after Vidwath's friend Guru Rajkumar, grandson of late actor Rajkumar, came there,'' Sathwik said.

One of the friends of Vidwath, the victim, said he was beaten black and blue, he fell to the ground and became unconscious. Mohammed kicked Vidwath in the face with his foot.

Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy said, "I called Haris on Sunday morning and spoke about his son's hooliganism. I told him such repeated incidents is not good for him and for the party. I instructed the police commissioner to arrest Mohammed and others who are involved in this attack.''
