<p>Bengaluru: Heavy rain on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday affected normal life in many parts of Kittur Karnataka. The overnight rain damaged several houses and brought down trees and electricity poles in Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Gadag, Dharwad districts.</p>.<p>A 48-year-old man was swept away, along with his bike, while crossing a swollen stream near Chandanhosur in Belagavi district on Tuesday night. Suresh Nijaguni Gundannavar, a native of Gadikoppa in Khanapur taluk, was returning home when the incident occurred.</p>.<p>A biker was rescued by locals when he was stuck on a flooded bridge over an overflowing stream near Sangamnath temple on Kallakavatagi-Vijayapura road in Tikota taluk. A total of 19 houses in Vijayapura district were damaged partially in the rain that lashed on Tuesday night.</p>.<p>Heavy rains lashed Bagalkot district, including Bagalkot, Hungund and Ilkal towns, The road link to Vijaya Mahantesh Gadduge on outskirts of Ilkal was cut off after Hirehalla stream flooded the bridge.</p>.<p>Vast tracts of agricultural land in twin districts of Vijayapura-Bagalkot were submerged following heavy rain and overflowing streams.</p>.<p>Heavy rain, coupled with gusty winds, pouned Honnavar taluk in Uttara Kannada district. Gundabala river has meandered its way to villages and farmlands on its bank, causing severe floods. Mudslips have been reported at several villages in the taluk.</p>.<p>Three lakes in Kudligi, Vijayanagar district, have breached following downpour on Tuesday night. Hosapete, Harapanahalli, Huvina Hadagali, Kottur and Hagaribommanahalli taluks also witnessed intermittent spells of sharp rains since Tuesday evening.</p>.<p>Narihalla reservoir in Sondur taluk has reached its maximum level for the second time this monsoon.</p>.<p>Maize, cotton, paddy and jowar crops on close to 200 acres have gone under water after a huge quantum of water was released from Narihalla dam.</p>.<p>Maize and onion crops on several acres have been washed away following thundershowers in Chitradurga and Ballari districts. Parts of Koppal district also received a good spell of rain in the last two days.</p>.<p>The CM’s programme at Daruwala Stadium in Hatti Gold Mines, Raichur district was cancelled on Wednesday following heavy rains.</p>
