Heavy vehicles banned on NHs in Udupi dist

In a press release, Deputy Commissioner P Hemalatha ordered the ban in view of the heavy rainfall and as a precautionary measure to protect the bridges and roads in the district.

Already the highways and bridges have been damaged due to movement of heavy vehicles and ore-laden lorries on NH-17 (from Shiroor of Kundapur taluk to Hejamdi of Udupi taluk) and NH-13 (from S K border to Beluvai).

It may be recalled that even in previous year, public had staged several agitations to ban movement of heavy vehicles after the roads and bridges were damaged in the district.
