It was Rs 3,74,72,847.<br />Presenting the audited accounts of the convention at the DVD release function, the convention secretary B Yashovarma explained various sources of income and the heads of expenditure made during the mega event.<br /><br />According to the report, the money required for the convention came from the government (Rs 1 crore), Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala (Rs 78.78 lakh), SDM educational institutions (Rs 38 lakh), donors (Rs 1.33 lakh), registration fee (Rs 26.34 lakh), exhibition stalls (Rs 3.5 lakh), Nempu souvenir (Rs 1.42 lakh) and others.<br /><br />The expenditure part includes advertisement and publicity (Rs 34 lakh), pendal (Rs 28 lakh), ground levelling (Rs 6 lakh), souvenir (Rs 29 lakh), decoration (Rs 19 lakh), facilities (Rs 17.42 lakh), Tulu cultural village (Rs 32.37 lakh), food (Rs 85 lakh), cultural programmes (Rs 10.76 lakh) and sound-lighting (Rs 30 lakh).<br /><br />DVD release in novel way<br /><br />The DVD was released in a unique way. Dr M Mohan Alva, the General Secretary of the Vishwa Tulu Sammelana, enacted the role of a ‘bhoota’ and performed magics through which he “produced” the DVDs.<br /><br />The bhoota took various articles from the ‘Akshayapatre’ such as areca-beetel leaves, tender coconut, kalasha, kalase, pingara, akki mudi. D Veerendra Heggade was asked to cut open the akki mudi, and then as he opened he got a bunch of the new DVDs. </p>
