<p>Mysuru/ Chamarajanagar/ Raichur: Security has been stepped up in Mysuru, Chamarajanagar and Raichur, after emails containing bomb threats were sent to senior government officials in all three districts on Friday.</p>.<p>The first such mail was sent to the Mysuru City Commissioner around 1:30am on Friday. It read: “We will plant bomb in different parts of Mysuru city. ALL the bombs will blast within 24 hours; hijbulmujahidin takes responsibility (sic).” With sniffer dogs in tow, anti-sabotage and bomb detection squads scoured Mysuru city. However, police found no suspicious packages in the city. Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered at the Nazarbad police station.</p>.<p>A bomb threat was sent to the Chamarajanagar Deputy Commissioner’s office around 7:10am, triggering panic. The mail was reportedly sent from the account of one Ajith Jakkamula, claiming that a bomb had been planted in the DC’s office.</p>.<p>The office was evacuated, while the bomb-disposal squad, along with the canine squad, was summoned to the spot. The police found no suspicious substances on the office premises.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Chamarajanagar Superintendent of Police B T Kavitha said that it appeared to be a hoax. “The Cyber, Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Crime Police have registered a case,” she added.</p>.<p class="bodytext">The situation was not too different at the Raichur deputy commissioner’s office, which received a similar mail. Panic gripped the people at the new DC’s office after receiving the mail, written in Tamil, which warned of a bomb in the building.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Raichur superintendent of police was immediately intimated, and bomb-disposal squad rushed to the new DC office.</p>.<p class="bodytext">Once they were able to definitively conclude that there were no explosive materials on the premises, the police personnel left the place.</p>
