Home Minister G Parameshwara has justified action against Akhila Karnataka Police Mahasabha president V Shashidhar and Mandya constable Ramakrishna for his silent protest on June 4.

Replying to reporter’s questions, he insisted the force wasn’t harsh with Ramakrishna, who was suspended. “This is a disciplined force, there is no room for indiscipline. As per the police manual, no policeman can even carry out a silent protest,” he said.

On arresting Shashidhar for sedition, Parameshwara said he had no personal vendetta against him.

Asked if he was upset with Shashidhar who has filed two cases against him, he said, “Let him file 10 more cases against me. It doesn’t matter. I haven’t taken it personally.”

Justifying the action against Shashidhar, he said the dismissed policeman had instigated the constables. “His association is not recognised,” he said.
