<p>Udupi: A case has been registered at the Kota Police Station after a home nurse allegedly stole valuables worth several lakhs from the house of a man working in Dubai, who had returned to India to care for his ailing mother.</p><p>According to the complaint, 62-year-old Cyprian D'Almeida, a native of Pandeshwar village in Brahmavar taluk, works for a private company in Dubai. He had recently returned home as his elderly mother was unwell due to age-related illness. To assist in caring for her, an agency had arranged for a home nurse named Sheela, a resident of Sagara taluk.</p>.Two thieves arrested in connection with series of house thefts in Udupi.<p>Sheela had introduced a man named Mani (also known as Lohith) as her husband, along with another individual named Santosh and her mother-in-law (Mani’s mother), during her stay at the residence. After working at the house for several days, Sheela informed Cyprian on May 27 that she was returning to her hometown due to her son’s ill health. The next day, on May 28, Cyprian discovered that valuables had gone missing from a locker in his room. The stolen items reportedly include gold ornaments worth over Rs 5 lakh, Rs 87,000 in cash, a jewellery set worth Rs 1.1 lakh, and a utensil set valued at Rs 78,000.</p>.<p>Upon confronting her, Cyprian managed to trace them and facilitated a meeting at Anandapura Police Station. During questioning, the accused allegedly admitted to the theft and returned a bracelet worth Rs 1.3 lakh and Rs 40,000 in cash. They assured that the remaining valuables would be returned later, but have failed to do so.</p><p>Based on a complaint, the Kota Police have registered a case under Section 306 along with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).</p>
