Homestays have spoiled natural beauty of Kodagu: Writer

Writer Dr Malali Vasanthkumar said Kannada language would be strengthened if Kodava and other sister languages are given importance.

He was speaking after inaugurating a programme organised to mark the centenary celebrations of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat by the Kodagu Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat at Cauvery Hall in the town on Wednesday.

He said homestays have spoiled the natural beauty of Kodagu and lamented that the commercialisation and urbanisation have been detrimental to the existence of the district.

Achivers Dr M G Nagaraj (Research), Bacharaniyanda Appanna (Literature), U M Poovaiah (Journalism) and H T Anil (Visual media), Seethalakshmi Ramachandra (Children’s welfare),  J K Dobi (Welfare of tribals), N S Deviprasad (Culture) and H M Muhammed (Government service) were felicitated on the occasion.
