India’s unity rooted in harmony of folklore and indigenous cultures: KDA chair Bilimale

Bengaluru: India has been able to remain a country for a long time because there is no conflict between folklore and indigenous cultures in the Indian knowledge system, said Purushottam Bilimale, Chairperson of the Kannada Development Authority.

Speaking at a meeting with representatives of China’s Fudan University at the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Tuesday, Bilimale said that the source of unity in India is that everyone living in this country have committed themselves to a common philosophy and at the same time have a mentality of respecting individual positions.

Even before the colonial system, there was communication between India and all the other countries of the Asian continent. India was influenced by the culture of China. Similarly, Bilimale said that Buddhism here attracted China very effectively, and although there are all opportunities for these two countries to become interdependent after globalisation, some uncontrolled conflicts are preventing this. He said that this is an opportunity for India and China, which have the same type of culture of family, to think together.

Fudan University has a special relationship with the Indian education system through the establishment of the Center for Gandhian and Indian Studies. This collaboration aims to promote research on Indian culture, politics, and economics, and encourages academic exchanges between the two countries. 

It is commendable that China’s Fudan University, one of the best universities in the world, is playing its role in the Indian education system, said Bilimale, adding that such educational exchanges will play a major role in enhancing relations between India and China.

Professors from China’s Fudan University, including Zhang Jiadong, Jian Jumbo, Guo Ding Ping, Wen Yao and others, were present at the meeting.
