<p>Bengaluru: Home Minister G Parameshwara said on Thursday that he had convened a meeting of Scheduled Caste (SC) Congress leaders to iron out inner differences before the Justice Nagamohan Das Commission submits its report on internal reservation.</p>.<p>“Before the Justice Nagamohan Das Commission submits its report to the government, we want to discuss it and ensure that no one is sad and that there is no confusion. We will get to know everyone’s opinions once we discuss the issue,” Parameshwara, a prominent SC (Right) leader in the state, said.</p>.<p>Though he didn’t specify the dates, the meeting is expected to be held on Saturday (August 2).</p>.Spike in maize cultivation, ‘reduced’ central supply trigger urea shortage in Karnataka.<p>The meeting is expected to reconcile the differences between leaders of the SC (Right)/Holeya and SC (Left)/Madiga communities, since internal reservation has for decades been a contentious issue between the two communities. </p>.<p>The Das commission, which oversaw the two-months-long survey, is expected to suggest a formula to divide the 17% reservation for SCs amongst the different sub-groups based on their relative population and backwardness.</p>.<p>The Madigas have fought for internal reservation on the grounds that they have been historically deprived of reservation benefits.</p>.<p>The Home minister recalled that there had been a similar meeting of Dalit Congress leaders before the survey began.</p>.<p>If the Das Commission submits its report as expected on Aug 4, it’s probable that report may come up before the Cabinet on August 7.</p>.<p>Food and Civil Supplies Minister K H Muniyappa, a prominent Madiga leader in the Congress, explained that he would participate in the meeting convened by the Home minister.</p>.<p>Reaffirming that the Congress was committed to internal reservation, Muniyappa noted that it would be implemented at the “earliest.”</p>
