'Jamma Bane holders are not owners'

Jamma Bane lands in the district have come under tax bracket with the consent of the President to Karnataka Land Revenue Act (Third Amendment) 2011, but the farmers do not get land ownership, said Kodava Samskrithi Hitharakshana Samithi legal advisor B A Machaiah.

Addressing press persons here recently, he said no amendment has been made to Revenue Land Act Section 79(2), 99, 101, which clearly states ‘land holder’. “In the present amendment to Section 2(20), 80, there is mention of only ‘land holder’ and not ‘land owner.’

Similarly, there is a mention of ‘by the occupant’ and not ‘by the owner’. “Holder-occupant means only land-holder and not land-owner,” he explained.
