<p>Mangaluru: The police have registered multiple cases in connection with the circulation of objectionable content on social media that allegedly hurts religious sentiments and promotes communal disharmony.</p><p>Venur police have registered a case after a WhatsApp status posted by A G M Jose featured morphed images containing the photograph of the Prime Minister of India and the Union Home Minister, along with a nude image of a woman and cartoons depicting Hindu deities. </p><p>The status post, reportedly shared with the intent to provoke religious sentiments and incite hate, was widely circulated. Following a complaint, the Venur Police have registered a case under Section 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).</p>.FIR against Karnataka BJP's social media handle over post comparing Indira Gandhi to Hitler. <p>In another case, Ramesh, a resident of Dharmasthala, while checking his Facebook account, came across a post containing obscene language allegedly uploaded by a user with the Facebook profile name "Vijaya Viji". Acting on his complaint, Dharmasthala Police have booked a case under BNS Section 296.</p><p>In a similar case, another resident, Purandara Gowda, discovered a vulgar post from a Facebook user named "Naveen Gowda". Based on his complaint, a separate case under BNS Section 296 has been registered by the Dharmasthala Police.</p><p>Investigations are in progress.</p>
