<p>Hubballi: Rescue and police officials on Saturday fished out the body of a 26-year-old tourist from Odisha, who was pushed into the Left Bank Canal of Tungabhadra River by miscreants at Sanapur Lake near <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/hampi">Hampi</a> on Thursday. </p><p>The deceased has been identified as Bibash. He, along with four others, including two foreign tourists, were attacked by three miscreants. One of the female survivors, in her complaint with Gangavathi rural police station has stated that she along with a 27-year-old Israeli woman was gang-raped by the three miscreants.</p><p>Police have arrested two youths—Mallesh A Dasara alias Handimalla (22), and Chetan Sai (21)—in this regard. Koppal Superintended of police Ram L Arasiddi said the two have confessed to the crime of gang raping the two women. </p><p>Mallesh and Chetan, both residents of Sainagar in Gangavathi, worked as construction laborers. </p><p>Ram said manhunt for the third accused is on. “We have sufficient leads on the third accused and he would be arrested soon. We are also looking at the criminal background of the accused and during interrogation we will come to know if they were involved in other similar cases.”</p>.Missing II PU student traced after 11 days.<p>On Thursday late night, the four tourists along with an Anegundi-based homestay operator, were stargazing and enjoying music; when the miscreants came to them enquiring about nearest petrol-bunk. Arguments escalated into fight resulting in the three accused pushing the male tourists into the canal and gang raping the two women. </p><p>While the two male tourists (one from United States of America and another from Maharashtra) swam to safety in the pitch of darkness, Bibash drowned in the canal. His body was recovered half a km away from the site of crime. </p><p>Police have informed the family members of the survivors and they are on their way to Koppal. </p><p>The four survivors, including the rape survivors have been shifted to a private hospital in Koppal for higher treatment for the injuries sustained.</p><p>Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah condemned the incident and in his social media post called it a heinous crime. He reaffirmed his commitment to protect all the tourists visiting the State.</p>
