Karnataka govt spends Rs 95,000 cr on five guarantee schemes so far

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated that till August 1, his government has disbursed Rs 49,080 crore towards Gruha Lakshmi scheme, Rs 21,213 croretoward Gruha Jyothi, Rs 14,655 crore for Anna Bhagya scheme, Rs 9,982 crore for Shakthi Scheme and Rs 520 crore towards Yuva Nidhi.

Hubballi: Since its inception, the Karnataka government has spent Rs 95,450 crore on implementation of the ambitious five guarantee schemes.

According to a written reply to a starred question in the assembly, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has stated that till August 1, his government has disbursed Rs 49,080 crore towards Gruha Lakshmi scheme, Rs 21,213 croretoward Gruha Jyothi, Rs 14,655 crore for Anna Bhagya scheme, Rs 9,982 crore for Shakthi Scheme and Rs 520 crore towards Yuva Nidhi.

Responding to a question raised by Harihara MLA B P Harish, chief minister said that excluding Shakthi scheme, 7.31 crore beneficiaries have benefited from the other four schemes.

Over 1.23 crore women heads of the family have been receiving Rs 2,000 per month under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, while 1.61 crore households are benefiting from the free electricity scheme.

There are 4.43 crore Annabhagya scheme beneficiaries. The Yuva Nidhi scheme, which provides Rs 3,000 per month for under graduates and Rs 1,500 per month for diploma holders, is benefiting 2.41 lakh unemployed youths.

Under the Shakthi scheme the four road transport corporations have issued over 500 crore tickets.

In its first year of inception (2023-24), the Congress government disbursed Rs 34,859 crore and in 2024-25 the five guaranties cost the exchequer Rs 52,526 crore and till August 1, 2025 the government has spent Rs 8,066 crore.
