Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh accused the Karnataka government of failing to furnish details of all small and marginal farmers to the Centre, to avail benefits under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN).

He was speaking after inaugurating the convention of Shakthi Kendra Pramukhs from three Lok Sabha constituencies (Dakshina Kannada, Udupi-Chikmagalur and Shimoga) covering four districts at Nehru Maidan here, on Saturday.

Rajnath urged the chief minister (H D Kumaraswamy) to provide details of the farmers, so that all farmers were benefited by PM-KISAN, which provides financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per year in three installments.

Stating that Karnataka had “Khichdi government”, where welfare of people is not possible, Rajnath said the JD(S) was busy protecting its own chair. “Such Khichdi government can not provide a stable administration to its people. There is a need for a strong and stable government in Karnataka,” he said.

Though the Congress in the last several decades had promised to eradicate poverty and corruption, it has not successed in it, he said.

Through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) system, the NDA government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has ensured that benefits reach out to the real beneficiaries and was able to save Rs 1.10 lakh crore, Rajnath said.

India being invited by Organisation of Islamic Cooperation is nothing but success of Indian diplomacy.

He appealed to all the party workers to work hard for the victory of 28 seats in Karnataka.

“We engage in politics only for nation building. The BJP wants to make India strong, a knowledge hub, superpower and a world leader.”

Lauding the Kannadigas who have contributed to the country, Rajnath said Basavanna, Visvesvaraya and Field Marshal K M Cariappa were born in Karnataka soil.

Mangaluru Rly Division

Rajnath said the BJP government would seriously think on creating a separate Mangaluru Railway Division. MPs Nalin Kumar Kateel and Raghavendra have been demanding separate Mangaluru Railway Division for the last few years, he added.

‘Devpt affected’

State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa alleged that the development works had come to a standstill in Karnataka after the coalition government came to power.

“In the name of loan waiver, the state government has cheated the people. The government is yet to waive farm loans borrowed by farmers from nationalised banks.”

Coming down heavily on those who are opposing Modi, Yeddyurappa asked whether they are opposing for curtailing Maoists and terrorists activities in India or for checking corruption in the country or for eliminating middlemen menace in the last five years.

State BJP General Secretary Arun said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants each booth to be strengthened and made it as a strong booth. All the BJP workers should work towards the same to ensure that BJP gets highest margin in each booth.”
