<p>Udupi: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly murdered his wife following a quarrel over her frequent use of a mobile phone. The incident occurred late on the night of June 19 at Hosanmatha in Hiliyana village of Brahmavar taluk.</p><p>The victim has been identified as Rekha (27), who was employed at a petrol pump. The accused, Ganesh Poojary (42), a resident of Kolambe village and a painter by profession, has been arrested by the Shankaranarayana police.</p><p>According to sources, Ganesh and Rekha had been married for eight years and had two children. Domestic disputes were reportedly frequent between the couple, with Ganesh regularly accusing Rekha of excessive mobile phone use. Rekha had earlier approached the Shankaranarayana police, following which the matter was mediated, and both were counselled and made to sign an agreement promising peaceful conduct.</p>.Chhattisgarh man kills wife and minor daughter; attempts suicide.<p>However, on the night of June 19, Ganesh allegedly returned home and picked a quarrel with Rekha over a trivial issue. In a fit of rage, he attacked her with a machete, causing fatal injuries. Rekha is believed to have died on the spot.</p><p>After committing the crime, Ganesh fled the scene. A police team led by Kundapura Circle Inspector Jayaram Gowda and Shankaranarayana Sub-Inspector Naseer Hussain successfully traced him down and took him into custody.</p><p>A case has been registered at the Shankaranarayana police station, and further investigation is underway.</p>
