The state government will come up with an industrial policy to encourage exports, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Saturday.
He was speaking at the state export excellent award presentation ceremony, organised by the Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC) of the Industries and Commerce department.
The chief minister said the government will strengthen the skill development department, in addition to strengthening industrial development, in an effort to reduce unemployment.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who also took part in the programme, urged entrepreneurs to set up shops in tier 2 and 3 cities.
He assured them that additional incentives would be provided for setting up industries there. This would encourage growth across the state, he expressed the hope.
Large and Medium Industries Minister M B Patil said the government would set up Common Facility Centres to boost the growth of small and medium enterprises in the state.
As many as 68 industries across 12 categories were given excellent export awards. Biocon, HAL, Toyota Kirloskar and GE India Pvt Ltd were among the awardees.
