Kumaraswamy urges Siddaramaiah govt to resolve protesting MCC employees grievances

Mysuru: Union Minister and Mandya MP H D Kumaraswamy on Thursday asked the Karnataka State government to lend an ear to the grievances of the employees of the City Municipal Corporations, who are on an indefinite strike from July 8.

Kumaraswamy, also former chief minister, has posted the petition submitted to him by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Employees Association on his ‘X’ and has stated that it is not enough to just put off the dissent among the Congress MLAs.

“The problems of the employees of the corporations should be addressed, as they strive for the cleanliness and development of their respective city. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should solve their problems, not just as an administrative matter but on humanitarian grounds,” he said..

ysuru is the native place of Siddaramaiah and the employees of a total of 10 corporations across Karnataka are on a strike.

Kumaraswamy has stated that the demands of the MCC Employees Association seem relevant. “Why is there a delay in solving their problems? It should be done immediately. They also need security,” he said.

Their demands include, benefits as per recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, on par with other State government employees and payment of salaries directly from the funds of the Finance Commission; amendment to the rules for appointment and to stop deputation of promoted staffers of city municipal council, town municipal council and town panchayats to grade one posts in the corporations; consideration of the employees of urban local bodies (ULB) as full government staffers, on par with staffers of rural local bodies (panchayats); and separate commissionerate for corporations.
