<p>Kolar: Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said on Friday that the socio-economic and educational survey would benefit the Lingayats and Vokkaligas as the report has recommended a hike in reservation for both the dominant communities.</p>.<p>"The Vokkaligas, who are currently classified under 3A Category, enjoy 4% reservation. The survey report has proposed increasing the hike to 7%. Similarly, Lingayats under 3B Category are currently enjoying 5% reservation. The report has recommended a 3% hike taking it to 8%. The Lingayats and the Vokkaligas, along with other backward classes, will benefit if the report is implemented," he told reporters at Chowdenahalli in Kolar taluk.</p>.Caste census decision put off amid Lingayat, Vokkaliga objection.<p>"The Supreme Court has clearly stated that the reservation should be fixed based on the accurate population data. Accordingly we conducted the socio-economic and educational survey, which a section of media and others misconstrued as caste census. Nowhere in the report has it mentioned caste census," the minister said.</p>
