<p>Madikeri: An earthquake of magnitude 1.6 was recorded at Made, located in Kodagu district.</p><p>The earthquake has been recorded at Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring centre. The earthquake epicentred at 2.4- km northwest of of Made Gram panchayat in Madikeri taluk and was recorded at 10:49:05 am.</p><p>According to KSNDMC, as per the seismic intensity map of the said earthquake from the epicentre, the intensity observed is low and the tremor might be felt up to a maximum radial distance of 15-20 kms from the epicentre. </p><p>This type of earthquake is does not have the intensity to harm the local community, although slight shaking could be observed locally. </p>.Centre approves Rs 3,027 crores for disaster mitigation projects across states.<p>The epicentre falls in seismic zone III, wherein the possibility of damage due to earthquake is very less. In addition, the epicentre is void of any structural discontinuities as per the tectonic map. </p><p>Ananya Vasudev from Kodagu district Disaster Management Authority said “it was a minor tremor and there was no need for concern.”</p><p>On Wednesday morning, around 10:50 am, news of the earthquake in a few places, including 2nd Monnangeri and Bettathooru village, circulated on WhatsApp groups.</p><p>The epicentre was located 4 km from Madikeri town and 23.8 km from Harangi dam.</p>
