<p>Belagavi: BJP MP and ex Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar condemned the statement of Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant in the Legislative Assembly that Union Water Resources Minister Bhupendra Yadav has assured him that Mahadayi Project to divert the waters of Kalasa-Banduri nallah’s into river Malaprabha will not be allowed to be implemented. </p><p>Shettar told reporters here on Friday that Dr Sawant through his statement has misguided the people of Goa and also attempted to bring disrepute to the union minister. </p>.'Will start work on Mahadayi project, let's see who stops us': DK Shivakumar takes on Goa CM Sawant.<p>Claims made by the Goa chief minister were wrong and they cannot be accepted. Centre has not taken any such stand. </p><p>"Mahadayi River Waters Dispute Tribunal has awarded drinking water for the needs of parched regions in North Karnataka. Both Karnataka and Goa have presented their stand before the tribunal and it has also been cleared by Supreme Court. State will implement the Mahadayi project after getting environmental clearance from centre and we are working on it," he said. </p><p>Shettar alleged that during the debate on Operation Sindoor in the Parliament, Opposition parties were seen like speaking in favour of Pakistan. </p><p>Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi too did not speak in national interests. "Rahul was toing the line of US President Donald Trump that Indian economy was dead has shown that himself of being ineligible to hold the constitutional post. He made foolish statement while Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor and Rajeev Shukla have upheld interests of the country and he should take lessons from them," Shettar added. </p><p>Regarding Congress protests to be held on August 5, at Cubbon Park in Bengaluru against the voters list in the state, Shettar said, "Congress candidates who have been defeated in the elections could have challenged the results then itself.
