<p>Hethuru, (Hassan dist): A 70-year-old man was killed in a <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/tags/bison">bison</a> (Indian gaur) attack at Kallahalli, under Vanaguru Gram Panchayat in Sakleshpur taluk of Hassan district, on Sunday evening.</p><p>The deceased is Thimmappa, a labourer. He was returning home after work when the bison attacked him. Though he tried to hide near a bush, the bison gored him to death with its horns.</p><p>As Thimmappa did not return home, the family members went in search of him on Monday morning. They found his body in a bush and immediately informed the police as well as forest department officials.</p><p>The villagers staged a flash protest and said that they would not allow the body to be shifted till the MLA and higher officials visited the spot.</p><p>MLA Cement Manju rushed to the spot and offered condolences to the family members. As there would be a delay in shifting the body to the Crawford Hospital in Sakleshpur, he directed the officials to conduct the post-mortem on the spot. He also presented a compensation cheque of Rs 20 lakh to the family members.</p>
