Activist Jayant booked for spreading false info on externment against Mahesh Thimarody

Mangaluru: A case has been registered against activist Jayant T for allegedly spreading false information on YouTube regarding the externment order against Rashtriya Hindu Jagarana Vedike president, and activist Mahesh Shetty Timarody.

According to the police, Jayant knowingly claimed that the Bantwal Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP) had submitted a proposal to the Puttur Assistant Commissioner for Mahesh Shetty Timarody’s externment as part of a conspiracy to hinder pro- Sowjanya movement.

The video allegedly portrayed the lawful administrative process as a deliberate plot, said the police. Following this, a case has been registered at the Belthangady Police Station under Section 353(1)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An investigation is underway.

Puttur Assistant Commissioner Stella Varghese had issued an externment order against Mahesh Shetty Thimarody, from Dakshina Kannada district for a period of one year in September. He was ordered to move to Raichur during the period. As there were over 25 cases against Shetty, the police have moved an externment proposal against him. Accordingly, the Puttur AC had issued an order in this regard.
