The Uppinangady police arrested a man accused in an assault case and was absconding for 17 years.
He was nabbed at Bajakala in Barya of Belthangady Taluk. The case was registered in Ponnampet of Kodagu district, 17 years ago.
Superintendent of Police Ravikanthe Gowda said the accused was Anand alias Nandu (43), a resident of Kalthodu in Mayamudi in Virajpet taluk of Kodagu district.
A Kodagu court had convicted the arrested in connection with the assault case, the SP added. Anand has been handed over to Ponnampet police.
