M'luru varsity bags prizes at Yuvajanotsava

The Mangalore University team, comprising students from various colleges, has bagged many prizes in the 34th South Zone Yuvajanotsava held at Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, Tirupati and have been selected for the National Yuvajantosava, to be held in Chandigarh in February 2019.

Addressing mediapersons here, on Monday, Mangalore University Student Welfare Officer Prof Uday Barkur said 27 students from Alva’s College-Moodbidri, 12 students from Govindadas College-Surathkal and one student from Vivekananda College-Puttur were part of the Mangalore University team.

The team has bagged a total of six prizes - first prize in folk dance, third prize in one-act play and skit and fourth prize in group song, classical singing and folk orchestra, he said.

In fact, the team had taken part in the national-level Yuvajanotsava last year and had bagged second place which gave it a chance to participate in South Asian Youth Fest.

It was the first time that Mangalore University had been represented by a team at the South Asian level.

The students from Mangalore University have also bagged an opportunity to exhibit their talent in the on-going Mysuru Yuva Dasara on October 17, he added.
