MUDA 'scam': Lokayukta Police to submit probe report involving Siddaramaiah, his wife in High Court on Monday

The state high court is expected to have a hearing in the case of a petition filed by RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna regarding the case on Monday. If the court passes an order to hand over the case to CBI, Lokayukta will stop its investigation.

Mysuru: Mysuru's Lokayukta Police will submit an investigation report in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) alternative sites allotment case involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his wife to the High Court on Monday.

According to sources, this is not a final report. Lokayukta police will be submitting the report on progress in the investigation in the case to High Court during the hearing of the petition filed by RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna seeking CBI probe into the case on Monday. If the High Court passes an order to hand over the case to CBI, Lokayukta will stop the probe here. Else they will continue and submit a final report to the special court involving elected representatives.

Lokayukta Police are probing the case based on an FIR filed against Siddaramaiah and others on September 27, 2024. On September 25, the special court in Bengaluru directed the jurisdictional Lokayukta Police in Mysuru to initiate an investigation against Siddaramaiah and others on the basis of a complaint filed by Krishna.

As per the complaint, Devaraju sold the land to B M Mallikarjuna Swamy on August 25, 2004. It was converted from agricultural land to non-agriculture land. On October 6, 2010, Mallikarjuna Swamy gifted the land to his sister, Chief Minister's wife B M Parvathi.

Parvathi submitted representations to MUDA, from 2014, seeking compensation for the said land acquired by MUDA. On December 12, 2021, the then MUDA Commissioner D B Natesh allotted 14 sites on an alternative developed area on a 50:50 ratio. In the wake of the developments, Parvathi returned all the sites to MUDA on October 3, 2024.
