<p>Delays in issuing mutation certificates and RTCs due to ‘server problems’ will soon be a thing of the past with the Revenue department launching an improved version of the Bhoomi software.</p>.<p>Apart from decentralising data collection at taluk centres to a secure central database, it will also ensure easy management of data on land records.</p>.<p>The trial is currently underway in 31 taluks of the state, and the department has sought facilities for 100 Tera Byte (TB) storage and related devices for the database before the web-based Bhoomi 7.0 is launched across the state in a phased manner.</p>.<p>The whole exercise is aimed at upgrading Bhoomi - a project aimed at digitising land records apart from enabling a single-window system to access land records.</p>.<p>“Till now, each taluk had a separate server used for issuing RTCs, monitoring ownership change of a property etc. The data thus collected is uploaded the Karnataka State Data Centre regularly, which is often hampered by network issues,” a source in the Bhoomi Monitoring Cell told DH.</p>.<p>The new web-based system, according to Revenue Minister R Ashoka, would ease the process of issuing such documents, and allow other offices apart from tahsildhar’s office to issue relevant land records of any individual.</p>.<p>The new central database system, along with a web portal for updating mutation and RTC details will ensure that all changes made at taluk levels are immediately reflected, sources said. Delay in the process had resulted in several complications in the past.</p>.<p>The project, which is currently under pilot mode in 31 taluks, will require augmentation of existing devices. “A centralised database would require storage of around 100 TB, along with corresponding RAM and other hardware. The Revenue department has written to the Centre for e-Governance to provide the equipment,” a source said.</p>.<p>At Ramanagar, which is among the 31 taluks where trials are underway, bandwidth was also increased for the taluk control room from the existing 2 Mbps to 20 Mbps, so as to ensure that web-based Bhoomi does not face any network constraints. The department has written to the authorities concerned to increase bandwidth for all taluk centres.</p>
