NH: 'Limit acquisition to 45 metres'

 Speaking at a meeting organised by the Samiti, National Highway Santhrasthara Samiti Coordinator Ramdas Nayak informed the Samiti has been successful in bringing as many as 390 stay orders from High court by 390 petitioners to stop further actions against taking away the property. The respondents in the stay order are Union government (National Highway Authority of India), State Government, Udupi District Deputy Commissioner and Kundapur Division Assistant Commissioner.

He said the 76 km road widening process has been segregated into three divisions and notifications are issued for the same. The meeting held by the government of Karnataka on March 8 that was attended by PWD Minister C M Udasi and Port and Fisheries Minister Krishna Palemar has decided in support of 45 meters widening of the stretch, he added.

The meeting was called by the Samiti to discuss on the possibilities of protesting the initiatives taken by the government and to fix a date to take delegation to New Delhi comprising the members of the Samiti under the leadership of MLAs of the areas concerned.
A committee was formed to lead the delegation on the occasion. Dates will be fixed after consulting District-in-Charge Minister Dr V S Acharya, informed Nayak.
