The government has identified 30 taluks in nine districts of the State as drought affected, and has announced a relief of Rs one crore per taluk. “Even though the five taluks in Kolar have been identified as drought affected, the grants have not been sanctioned,” alleged general secretary of Rajya Kisan Sabha, M Gopal.
The government has sanctioned grants to Bellary, Koppal, Raichur, Gulbarga, Bidar, Belgaum, Bijapur and Gadag districts for distribution of drinking water, fodder and for setting up cattle sheds. “However, Kolar has not been included in the recommendation for grants,” he pointed.
He also blamed the people’s representatives for maintaining silence over the issue and urged them to ensure that funds are granted immediately.
