Murthy is an alumnus of NIE and secured his electrical engineering degree from the institution in 1966, with the first rank.

According to sources, Murthy has already donated Rs 7 crore to NIE, especially for developing the ‘School of Electrical Sciences’ at the institute.

Speaking to reporters, Parameshwara, who also holds the Information Technology and Biotechnology, portfolio said Murthy has prepared a blueprint for lifting the premier engineering college to international standards.

Former Infosys Board member and director Srinath Batni, former India cricketer EAS Prasanna and Adichunchagiri Mutt seer Nirmalanandanatha Swami are among the alumni of NIE.
