Only 1 member shows for PAC meet in Kalaburagi

Only one member of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) attended the study tour and the PAC meeting which began on Tuesday at Kalaburagi. Congress leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge is the chairman of PAC.

A total of 22 Members of Parliament including 15 from Lok Sabha and seven from Rajya Sabha are the PAC members. Only Bihar BJP MP Janardhan Singh took part in the meeting. Haveri MP Shivakumar Udasi who is also the committee member was conspicuous by his absence.

Canara Bank was nodal agency for study tour of the committee members and meeting.The authorities had reserved rooms for the members at star hotels and guesthouses of the two universities. The meeting hall of Hyderabad Karnataka Region Development Board (HKRDB) was also reserved for the meet.

The district administration too had made preparation for the meeting for the past one week. About 500 police were deployed for the security. All members were supposed to take road from Hyderabad to Kalaburagi. Mallikarjun Kharge himself went to Hyderabad to welcome committee members.

According to the sources, there is no need for quorum to hold the meeting when study tour is undertaken.The committee members visited Central University of Karnataka located at Kadaganchi in Aland taluk, ESI Hospital nad Gulbarga Airport for inspection, after which the meeting was held at HKRDB hall. The committee will visit Kalaburagi railway station on November 28.
