Last Updated 31 July 2009, 17:50 IST

The Petitioner, Dr Manjaiah had moved the High Court after he was denied a post in the Institute. He had applied for the posts of  professors and assistant professors on the basis of the advertisement released by the NITK.

After he was informed that he was not selected, he sought certain informations under Right to Information Act, which revealed about the irregularities. “Accordingly, the RTI information revealed that no norms or approved procedures for recruitment were followed by the institute,” said Rueben Jacob, Counsel for the petitioner.

The petitioner submitted that the institution had considered the applicants who applied after the due date and the committee which made the selection was not even aware of the post for which it was recruiting. The Court which heard the matter has ordered notice to NITK.
