Property parade: Valuables worth Rs 30 lakh returned

Gold and silver valuables worth Rs 29,90,800, recovered from the accused were returned to their respective owners at a property parade held in Hassan on Saturday.Superintendent of Police Amit Singh returned the gold valuables to the owners at a programme held at D R grounds in Hassan.

Speaking on the occasion, he disclosed that 192 theft cases have been registered in the district between April and August and articles worth Rs 1,13,09,926 were stolen. Out of this, police have been successful in cracking 80 cases, arresting 34 accused and recovering valuables worth Rs 60,78,812 from them. In all, about 53.74 per cent cases have been solved.

Explaining further, Amit Singh said 398 theft cases has been registered between January 1, 2012 and August end and articles worth Rs 2.72 crore were looted. Out of this, 143 cases (47.58 pc) were cracked and 127 suspects busted. Articles worth Rs 1.29 crore were seized from them, Amit Singh said.The articles included gold and silver valuables, cash and two wheelers.
