Rain disrupts power supply in Mudigere

Heavy rain lashing Mudigere has thrown normal life out of gear.

More than 80 electricity poles have been damaged in the taluk, affecting the power supply in the villages.

Hassan-Mudigere power line transformer has been damaged and the power supply was disrupted across the taluk on Monday night and was not restored till late Tuesday night. The disruption in power supply affected households and small industries.

A huge tree fell on the houses of Sukanya, and Kamala, at Birgooru in Koove village. Landslide is reported near Koove gram panchayat office.

A minor bridge at Kallakki in Balooru village has collapsed.

A landslide occurred on Charmadi Ghat. However, the authorities cleared the soil and facilitated the movement of vehicles immediately.

Rivers and rivulets are in spate in the taluk. Houses in Ganganamakki, Lokavalli and Shashankanagara are marooned.

Coffee berries have started withering in Bhairapura, Guthi, Devaramane, Mekanagadde and Devarunda following heavy rainfall.

The gusty winds have damaged banana plants at Banakal, Chakkamakki, Horatti villages. Landslide at Channadlu on Hirebailu-Balehole affected two houses.

Rain recedes

With the receding rain in Kadur, the farmers have begun farming activities.

The sky remained overcast throughout the day. Women labourers were seen removing weeds from the onion crop on Tuesday.
