Rains derail normal life in many parts of Karnataka

Heavy to moderate rains lashed several parts of the state on Monday.

Mysuru received rains for the whole of Sunday night and upto Monday morning. There were reports of tree fall and power disruption. The city has been receiving rains for the past 15 days.

It rained moderately in Davangere and Shivamogga districts. Rain accompanied by gusty winds lashed Kalaburagi on Sunday night. The strong winds uprooted a tree affecting traffic movement on Rotary School road in the city.

A shepherd was struck dead by lightning at Jalahalli of Devadurga taluk in Raichur district on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Hanumagouda Nayak (16). Raichur city and surrounding areas received rains on the day.

It rained heavily on Sunday night and Monday morning in Tumakuru district. Normal life was disrupted due to the showers. Agriculture activities gained momentum in the district following copious rains.

Red alert in Kodagu, Uttara Kannada

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded red alert in Kodagu and Uttara Kannada districts for Tuesday. It has cautioned fishermen against venturing into the sea.
