‘Rs100-cr works to be initiated by Malnad devpt board’

Malnad Development Corporation chairman T D Rajegowda said that various development works of public works department will be taken up by Malnad Development Corporation at a cost of Rs 100 crore.

Speaking at a press conference, he said that various projects have already been initiated during the last 10 days in Koppa, Sringeri and NR Pura taluks.

The road asphalting work will be taken up on a priority basis and will be completed before May 2019, he added.

Stating that the state government has released a special grant of Rs 5 crore in the first stage towards development works in the three Town Panchayats of the NR Pura constituency, T D Rajegowda said that an amount of Rs 2 crore each is reserved to NR Pura and Koppa and Rs 1 crore to Sringeri.

“Also, Rs 65 lakh has been released for drinking water supply. An action plan has been drawn for works up to Rs 50 lakh. About Rs 15 lakh grants will be utilised for providing drinking water in the town.”

Malnad Development Corporation chairman meanwhile noted that power disruptions have become common in the constituency as the electricity lines, electricity poles and transformers are in a dilapidated condition.

“The work on changing the Chikkamagaluru-Balehonnuru-Kammaradi-Sringeri power line has been started. Work on Muttinakoppa-Koppa power line is complete. The work was initiated by the then district in-charge minister D B Chandregowda,” he added.
