Security in heritage city heightened in view of PM's visit

In the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the region, including the city and Shravanabelagola in Hassan district, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is touring the region on Sunday and Monday. He will receive the PM at the Mysuru Airport at Mandakalli around 11 pm.

The CM will arrive at the airport by a special flight on Sunday at 5.40 pm. He will participate in the programme when the PM dedicates the electrified double railway track between Mysuru and Bengaluru at the city railway station. The PM will also launch the Mysuru-Udaipur Palace Queen Hamsafar Express train at 3 pm. Modi will address a BJP rally at the Maharaja's College Grounds later.

SPG security

In view of the PM's visit to the city for two days, movement of the people has been prohibited around Hotel Radisson Blu, and on the roads to be traversed by him. The Special Protection Group personnel have been camping in the city and have inspected the security arrangements. They have taken precautionary measures on the roads of his travel and also venues of his programme. Police personnel from Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Tumakuru and Bengaluru have been deployed for security, across the city.

The temporary helipad on the University of Mysore sports pavilion and the Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel helipad have been taken over by the SPG. They conducted a mock landing on Saturday.

The Nanjangud Road from the airport up to the Hotel Radisson Blu will be out of bounds for the people from 8.30 pm on Sunday up to midnight. Even parking of vehicles within a radius of 200 metres of the road is prohibited.

Similarly, the road from the Lorry Terminal on the Nanjangud Road up to Race Course Circle; from K R Boulevard up to the Hotel via Mysuru Zoo will be closed from 10 pm on Sunday up to 1 pm on Monday.

On Monday, from 11 am to 1 pm, the road from the hotel up to Lalitha Mahal helipad and from 12 noon to 6 pm from Kautilya Circle near Crawford Hall, up to the City Railway Station via Railway Gate, Kalamandira, Hotel Metropole will be out of bounds for the people.

Separate parking lots have been provided for vehicles of different categories of people and routes to various places have been diverted in view of security.
