Vinoda, Ramu and Areppa, who had taken their sheep to Sunnadamaligadde for grazing, informed their family members over the phone that the area had been flooded with rainwater. All the three are residents of Narayanpur IB thanda.

They were sent food with the help of police by Grama Panchayat president Shivu Biradar and Taluk Panchayat member Chandrashekhar. As Areppa was suffering from a stomach ailment, he was immediately shifted to a hospital.

But Vinoda and Ramu preferred to stay back on the hills with their sheep, numbering more than 300, till the water subsided.

Minister for Small Industries Narasimha Nayak visited the spot. Details about three others were not available.
