<p>Mangaluru: Sowjanya murder case should be brought under the ambit of Special Investigation Team (SIT), set up by the government, Sowjanya's mother Kusumavathi urged on Tuesday.</p><p>"Sowjanya, second of my five children, was brutally raped and murdered on October 9, 2012. Santosh Rao, the only accused in the case, was acquitted by the lower and high court here recently. Who is the rapist then? Vittal says he faced harassment for naming his shop as 'Sowjanya shop' and was forced to relocate it to Nidle--located six kilometers away from Dharmasthala.</p><p><strong>'SIT will unearth truth' </strong></p><p>"SIT headed by honest police officers will unearth the truth behind the many murders and mass burials in Dharmasthala," said Mahesh Shetty Thimarody of Rashtriya Hindu Jagaran Vedike. Mahesh, spearheading a campaign to secure justice to the family of Sowjanya and others, said that after the formation of SIT, many legal luminaries including retired judges, had extended support, providing guidance to them.</p>
