Students should develop a competitive spirit to excel in life, said writer U R Nagesh.

He was speaking after inaugurating cultural, sports, NSS and other activities at Government First Grade Women’s College in Madikeri.

“Students should develop creativity. The students should face all challenges in life,” he added.

He said education should help to build a life. Students should gain knowledge and develop a zeal to achieve in life.

Along with academic activities, students should engage in extracurricular activities as well, he said.

Government First Grade College assistant professor Dr K C Dayanand called upon the students to develop self-confidence to overcome problems.

“All should avail higher education and should not fall prey to bad habits. Student life should be utilised to gain knowledge,” he said.

“Everyone has hidden talents in them. There is a need to bring out such talents,” he added.

Government Women’s College principal Prof D J Javarappa called upon the students not to waste time.
