Action should be taken immediately against those police officials who support microfinance operators harassing debtors, he said.</p><p>Bommai told reporters in Hubballi on Sunday that RBI norms and government orders are there, but the question is about implementing them. Due to rampant corruption in the transfer of police officials, they try to extract money from different sources including microfinance operators. What do poor people give to the police? Microfinance owners lure the officials, he said. “Such a practice should be checked at first. Quick action should be initiated against police officials supporting microfinanciers. What happens if police join hands with thieves?” he asked, in the wake the incidents of harassment to microfinance debtors.</p><p>“After Congress curtailed the Constitution in 1975, second freedom struggle took place with Jayaprakash Narayan’s call for a total revolution. Constitution and democracy were safeguarded then. CM Siddaramaiah is displaying a selective dementia now,” Bommai said.</p>
