Teacher arrested for misbehaving with girl

A government school teacher was thrashed and handed over to the police by residents of Kanchanahalli village in the taluk on Monday, for sexually harassing a student.

The suspect, T S Bhaskar, has been arrested by the Rural police. He has been suspended by the Deputy Director of Public Instruction. It is said Bhaskar, a teacher at the government higher primary school here, was misbehaving with her for several days
now.

On Thursday last, the girl insisted that she would not go to school. When her family members sought to know the reason, she told them about what had been happening to her at school. Her mother reported the matter to the head mistress, who brought it to the notice of the block education officer (BEO).

The BEO, in turn, reported the matter to the deputy director of public instruction (DDPI).   Meanwhile, village elders who got wind of the case came to the school on Monday and questioned Bhaskar. Some of them thrashed him and handed him over to the police.
