Poor mobile network forces teachers to climb trees, water tank during Karnataka survey, slapped with notice

'You have acted illegally by disregarding the government order, mocking its policy and behaving like a non-government employee by climbing a tree and a water tank for the network and sharing those pictures', the notice said.

Bidar: Notice has been issued to two teachers who had climbed a tree and a water tank due to the poor mobile network during the ongoing caste census in Karnataka. 

The Basavakalyan District Education Officer issued notices to one Govinda Maharaj, a teacher at the Government Higher Primary School in Hulsur taluk and one Anil Kumar Shastri, a teacher at the Government Lower Primary School in Handral.

Enumerators had to go to great lengths to conduct the caste census on Wednesday. With network issues continuing to dog the process, one enumerator at Mirakhal village in Hulasur taluk of Bidar district had to clamber up a neem tree to access the mobile network to open the app.

Another enumerator’s risky ascent to the top of a water tank in the same taluk ultimately proved futile. 

"You have acted illegally by disregarding the government order, mocking its policy and behaving like a non-government employee by climbing a tree and a water tank for the network and sharing those pictures. You should submit a written reply within three days. Otherwise, action will be taken against you", the notice said.
