Upcoming Tulu film director Haris Haudal was killed in a road accident at Moodukonaje near Moodbidri late Thursday night.

Haris, 30, a native of Haudalu near Moodbidri, had been shooting for his film ‘Aatidonji Dina’ near Moodbidri.

He left his house in his car at 11.30 pm after the film producer invited him to his house at Shirtadi for discussion. On the way, Haris’ car rammed a tree at Moodukonaje.

His friend, who was travelling on a two-wheeler, shifted Haris to a hospital, but the director was declared dead on arrival by the doctors on duty.

Haris had been interested in theatre activities since his younger days and had been an ardent fan of Shankar Nag. He had been organising a cricket tournament in the name of Shankar Nag at Haudalu.

He worked as assistant director to Kashinath and for movies like ‘Lakshmi’, ‘Breaking News’, ‘Muthu Mavutha’, ‘Chellapilli’ and ‘Mara LLB’, and serials like ‘Panjarada Gili’, ‘Maneyondu Mooru Bagilu’ and ‘Chakravahana’.

He had also directed a Tulu movie ‘Baila Kural’.
