UoM VC seeks advance bail

University of Mysore (UoM) Vice-Chancellor and ex-VC of KSOU K S Rangappa, one of the accused in reported irregularities in Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), on Tuesday, approached the third additional district and sessions court, seeking anticipatory bail.

According to sources, the petition is likely to come up for hearing on Wednesday.

On Saturday, the Jayalakshmipuram police had registered a first information report against seven people including K S Rangappa and former KSOU VC M G Krishnan, following a complaint by KSOU Finance Officer K Khader Pasha. The complaint was registered based on the directions of Chancellor of Universities and Governor, Vajubhai Vala.

According to the complaint, Rangappa and Krishnan were involved in irregularities reported in the purchase of furniture and computers for the university during their tenure as vice chancellors.
