Violation of code of conduct: 166 cases booked

As many as 166 cases have been registered on the violation of model code of conduct at various check posts in the district from March 11 to 19.

Liquor worth Rs 53.38 lakh, vehicles, saree and cash have also been seized so far.

Additional DC Kumar said that cash amounting to Rs 1.49 lakh was seized at Magadi-Kaimara check post in Chikkamagaluru. In addition, 59 sarees and other materials were also seized at the same check post. The value of the seized property is Rs 2.48 lakh.

The officials have seized 13,614 litres of liquor stored illegally at different places along with vehicles.
