JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy said on Sunday that the JD(S) would join hands with the party that agreed to implement the JD(S)' programmes, in the event of a fractured verdict.
Speaking at the JD(S)' Vikasa Parva rally at the Subhash Chandra Bose grounds here on Sunday, he said TV surveys had indicated that the party would clinch 40 seats. "Without us, no one can form a government," he claimed.
"I have no ambitions of becoming chief minister. Even if we get 40 seats as predicted, I will not go to anybody's door asking for chief ministership. If there is a coalition government, then the party we support must back our development programmes," he averred.
Kumaraswamy said that he was confident that the people of the state would back JD(S) and the party would win over 113 seats.
