Work on Vishnu Memorial to begin on Oct 8

The State Government has already bought two acres of land at the cost of Rs two crore belonging to Abhiman studio off Bangalore-Mysore Road, where the actor’s samadhi is located.  

The Public Works Department has been entrusted with the responsibility of constructing the memorial at the cost of Rs 10 crore, he added.

Approval given

The Chief Minister was speaking to reporters after a meeting with Bharati Vishnuvardhan, widow of the late actor. He said the Government has given its approval to the plan proposed by the family members to construct the memorial. The memorial project will in all probability be completed in one year’s time, he added.

The memorial comprises the samadhi, a dhyanamandira, an open air theatre, a museum and a garden. The Government has been extending full cooperation in implementing the memorial, Bharati Vishnuvardhan said.
